Penny
was a fabulous rescue dog we kept for 3 weeks. She had been picked up as a
stray and taken to a local shelter, who then contacted us to come and either
pick her up or try to find her a foster home. She was so adorable, with those
oversized paws and big, droopy ears - of course, we would have loved to have
kept her forever, but that's how that goes :)

We took her home with us that day and scheduled an appointment with the vet to have her spayed and teeth cleaned a week or so later. |
To our surprise, the vet told us after her surgery that she had been pregnant for about two weeks - she had been at the shelter for a couple of days before we got her, so she must have gotten pregnant right before she was found. The puppies were, sadly, lost.
We
listed her on the adoption site and had a few requests to visit her. One special
family, a mother and her two boys, came to see her and we knew it was an instant
match. They had an older dog already and brought him along to see if Penny
and he would get along - they did!
During this time, we had a situation arise with Montana and the other girls
not getting along and we thought it was best to place Penny immediately. The
family came back and picked her up a week later and were so happy to have
her! We were glad that it worked out.
| Unfortunately, we found out later that they had to put their older dog to sleep but they felt that Penny, now known as Macey, had really helped them out through their difficult time. Macey will always hold a special place in our hearts and we are happy that she has found a wonderful family to love her. | ![]() |
